#GetOutThere initiative is launched
Health Improvement Commission launches #GetOutThere initiative to keep Guernsey moving.
The benefits of a more active population in Guernsey and Alderney to our health, environment and economy are great. We regularly advocate for and advise on policies and strategies to enable and encourage easy access to regular physical activity. In line with the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity, we advocate for a whole-system approach which includes “upstream” policies and strategy actions which directly impact physical activity, and “downstream” approaches focussing on education and information. Our advocacy is often done in collaboration with other Third sector partners.
We have advised and advocated for physical activity within the:
Sea Front Enhancement Programme
Draft new Schools’ Inspection Framework
Emotional Health and Well-being Policy Directive
Mental Health and Well-being Plan
Hospital modernisation programme
Bailiwick Social Prescribing Pilot
Leale’s Yard Regeneration Framework
We also Lead the physical activity components of the Children and Young People’s Plan, within the Priority 2: Healthy and Active.
