Our adult physical activity work focuses on helping more adults to be more active, more often. Aligned with key aims from Active 8: A Plan for Sport, the work focuses on creating environments where physical activity is part of everyday life through workplaces, healthcare, and community settings.
As part of this work, we’ve awarded grants for new or expanding physical activity groups, helped to set up an accessible cycling programme, and worked with local GP groups and older adult settings to provide training, resources and support.
Current projects include the Be Active at Work service, which supports workplaces to incorporate physical activity into their normal working day and continuing to work with health and care professionals to integrate physical activity into healthcare so that it is widely recognised and used as an additional way to help manage health.
Additionally, we have also launched Active Spectators, which aims to create convenient opportunities for busy parents to be active whilst their children are at clubs.
More information on these projects can be found under the related initiatives section at the bottom of the page.
