Health Improvement Commission supports Island Games to be ‘family friendly’
The Guernsey 2023 NatWest International Island Games is fast approaching and is talking place from 8-14 July. Our team members are really looking forward to attending, we have each been given half a day to volunteer, and are also working at the events to promote a ‘family friendly’ atmosphere.
The Games bring our community the chance to celebrate sport and activity across the island. It will be a very special week as 24 islands participate in 14 sports at 19 different venues. The Games will create an atmosphere of pride, fun and appreciation of the efforts from the 2500 competitors from all over the World.
Our aim is to support the Island Games organisers in making the games ‘family friendly’ by working with venues to ensure that families have a positive, healthy experience at the Games. We want to give the whole community the opportunity to come together to celebrate all that is good about being active, eating well, and having more options at the bar than alcohol.
Many of our workstreams have been involved. Read on for a summary of what we’re up to!
