How Your Business Can Sign-Up
Businesses open to the general public are eligible to join the scheme, for example coffee shops, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, and hairdressers. If your business is interested in joining, please email us HERE and a member of our team will be in touch with more information.
All businesses that are members of the scheme will be given recognition. If your business joins the scheme, it will be listed on The Health Improvement Commission’s website so parents can find it. Why Your Business Should Get Involved
Every business knows the value of repeat custom and word-of-mouth recommendations. Breastfeeding mums and their families who feel welcome are more likely to come back to your business and tell their friends. Joining the scheme gives you an opportunity to boost your business and benefit your local community at the same time.
Why Breastfeeding Mums Need Support
Breastfeeding is very important to the health of both mother and baby. Mothers who breastfeed are at less risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Breastfed babies are less likely to suffer from infections and allergies and are also less likely to develop childhood diabetes and obesity.
Many of those who start breastfeeding their new baby do not breastfeed for as long as they would like. There are a variety of reasons but only too often this is due to a feeling that there is a lack of support, particularly when feeding their baby outside the home. The scheme aims to support families to feel more confident breastfeeding out and about and further normalise breastfeeding in the community.
