The BeActive team at Health Improvement Commission are providing balance bikes for public use in local parks this Summer on a trial basis, making it easier and more accessible for all children to have the chance to practise and enjoy cycling in a safe environment. Balance bikes are a fantastic way for kids to develop the balance and coordination skills needed to ride a pedal bike.

If this is your first time using these balance bikes, please watch this short safety video to find out how to adjust the bikes and helmets to fit your child.

If your child is at the start of their learn to ride journey, you can use this video as a guide for how to build their confidence and get them scooting and gliding on the bike.

If you are using our balance bikes in Saumarez or Cambridge Park, don’t forget to take a selfie next to the storage box, and if Health Commission is tagged in their socials @healthimprovegg, they’ll be in with a chance to win a new balance bike at the end of Summer!
