The Be Active team are big fans of ‘Learning by Playing’ so we have recently invested in ‘BRAINball’.

This is an initiative using 100 Soft mini-balls and 100 lesson plans that help children (and adults) with literacy and numeracy by playing active games.

Evidence and research show that when used regularly (twice a week) there is an improvement in educational performance and, as importantly, the activities are fun, get children active and encourage social interaction between groups.

The 100 lesson plans are suitable for all ages, and we will focus our attention on children in years 2-6.

We are looking to trial sessions in school's next term. They can be used within school or as an after-school club.

Below are some examples of the Health Improvement Commission having a go at some of the lessons.
