We are excited that the day will be opened by the Lieutenant Governor Richard Cripwell and include two UK keynote speakers:

Professor Kevin Fenton CBE - Regional Director, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (London); Regional Director of Public Health, NHS London; Statutory Health Advisor to the Mayor of London, Greater London Authority and London Assembly; and President of the UK Faculty of Public Health. Professor Fenton will speak about the value of prevention.

Dr Kelly Parsons - Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, specialising in food policy and systems. Dr Parsons will talk about the importance of all parts of a community working together to make sustainable changes which impact health.

Ahead of his visit to Guernsey Professor Fenton FFPH CBE said:  "While we face many challenges - COVID's shadow, rising living costs, and growing health needs - let this be a moment of resolve. Let's prioritise prevention, early intervention, and invest in a robust public health workforce and system, fit for the future. With bold ambitions, collaborative leadership, and prioritised investments, we can significantly improve population health and tackle inequalities. Let's build a healthier future, for all."

The conference aims to bring together people working in policy, public health, education, health care, the third sector and business to share the critical role of prevention in improving the health of our community and inspire delegates to consider the part that they can play in a creating a healthier future.

We will also showcase some of the Commission’s work in a series of short films from each of our workstreams.
