Annual Drink Drive Campaign Launches Ahead of Festive Season

With Christmas fast approaching — a time filled with parties, celebrations, and social gatherings — the campaign reminds motorists of the serious consequences of driving over the legal alcohol limit. From fines and legal repercussions to the risk of causing harm and damaging relationships, the impact can be life changing.

Created in partnership with local design agency Two Degrees North, this year’s campaign carries a clear and important reminder: too many people are still choosing to drive under the influence of alcohol.

Stagecoach and Lambourne Taxis are once again showing their commitment to safer roads by featuring the campaign message on the backs of their buses and taxis. Joining them in support is the charity Smile for Georgie, helping to spread the message even further across the community.

We are pleased to support this important campaign and help raise awareness of the dangers associated with drink driving. If our involvement encourages even one person to make a safer choice, then it will have been worthwhile.

Jenny Le Prevost, Smile for Georgie Foundation

This is a message that everyone should be thinking about at all times of the year. We want people to enjoy themselves, but at Christmas, the temptation to drink and drive can be much greater. The consequences of being caught can be devastating — from causing an accident, facing a heavy fine, to damaging family relationships and even risking imprisonment.

Please plan your nights out in advance. If you think you might be tempted to drive home, don’t drive to the venue in the first place. Remember BLT — BUS, LIFT, TAXI. Make a safe choice before the night begins.

Andrea Nightingale, Substance Use Lead

The campaign encourages everyone to look out for one another and make responsible decisions to keep the roads safe this holiday season.
